Who is Professional Learning Board?
Initially founded as a professional development resource for Minnesota K-12 teachers, word has spread across the United States and world about Professional Learning Board's online professional development courses. We've expanded our services in response to requests.

Who are the teachers contributing to Teacher Learning Board courses?
All subject matter experts are both master teachers and recognized leaders in their field. All courses are specifically designed to align with the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards Core Propositions and State professional development standards. Course development is also overseen by National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs).

COURSES

Is it a course that I can download and watch at my convenience - is there a time limit on when I can watch?
The course is accessible via the Internet and can be accessed from any Internet computer. There is nothing you need to download and the course may be accessed repeatedly and at your convenience during the course access time.

Who can take Teacher Learning Board courses?
Teachers and other education professionals in several states use Teacher Learning Board classes to meet local and state licensing, relicensing and professional development requirements.

What kind of computer is needed to access courses?
Access Teacher Learning Board courses using Mac, Windows or Linux-based personal computers and an Internet connection. Our courses are best viewed with Microsoft Internet Explorer, Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Acrobat Reader. Unsure if your computer has these programs, you will be prompted to install them if needed during the courses. If you know your computer does not have them installed already, click the software name to download and install the FREE programs from these links. Other web browsers do work as well.

What can be expected in a Teacher Learning Board course?
All Teacher Learning Board online professional development courses are research-based, interactive courses designed to model best practices in both classroom and online learning pedagogy. Furthermore, we work with recognized content area experts to ensure you are getting rich content that will help you improve your practice and increase student performance. All courses include:

How many times may a course be accessed?
Each paid course registration enables one teacher access, ANY TIME during the course access period.

Where are classes held?
Access Teacher Learning Board courses from wherever you have access to an internet-connected computer; school, classroom, computer lab, home, libraries and even coffee shops.

When are classes scheduled?
Complete Teacher Learning Board classes online and at your convenience, whether early in the morning, during a prep or late at night. You decide. Instructor-led courses may have meetings scheduled online. Details will be noted in each course.

Would I only be able to watch it from one computer - for example, if I purchase it at my work, would I be able to bring it up and continue watching from my home computer?
You can access the course from any computer connected to the internet.

I noticed that it said the clock hours are 5 - does that mean that the whole course is 5 hours long?
The course clock hours are determined by the equivalent classroom-based clock hours. Completion time varies by individual. You can access the course at your convenience for as much or little as your schedule permits, e.g. start the course for 15 minutes and next time you log in you spend an hour. You can access the course as many times (and at any time of day) you want during the course access period.

What does research-based mean?
Research-based means that recommended strategies have been tried and practiced, successfully put-to-the-test if you will, by fellow education professionals. This narrows issues from Will this work? to Will this work with my students? and even How will this work with my students?

GRADUATE COURSES

What institution issues the graduate credits?
Professional Learning Board is an Academic Partner of the University of St. Thomas.

Are courses accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education?

Yes, Professional Learning Board graduate courses are offered through the University of St. Thomas which is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.


What are the value of the graduate credits?

Professional Learning Board graduate courses earn graduate continuing education semester credit courses. One graduate semester credit is equivalent to:

- 1.5 graduate quarter credit
- 15 contact hours
- 24 clock hours


Is there a limit to the number of graduate credit courses in which I can enroll?
Students may not register for more than 9 semester credits per fall or spring semester. Students may not register for more than 12 semester credits per summer semester.

What is the University of St. Thomas' Credit Transfer Policy?
Graduate continuing education credits may apply as transfer credits to St. Thomas graduate degree programs in accordance with the transfer policies of the School of Education. A maximum of six semester hours of graduate continuing education credit, for which a grade of B or above is indicated, may be approved for transfer into a degree program by the dean. Credits must be received within a seven-year time period prior to the petition for transfer.

Any student seeking to transfer graduate continuing education credits into a graduate program at another institution is advised to obtain prior approval from the academic adviser and dean at that institution.

Are there any prerequisites for enrolling in graduate courses?
Yes. You must hold a baccalaureate degree.

Are these graduate courses eligible for financial aid?
As graduate continuing education credit courses are not part of a degree program, students enrolling in these graduate courses are not eligible for financial aid or V.A. benefits.

Do these graduate courses qualify for tax purposes?
The payment receipt you receive during enrollment at Teacher Learning Board can be used for tax purposes. For more information, please refer to IRS Publication 970, "Tax Benefits for Education." and consult your tax preparer.

What will I receive from participating in a Teacher Learning Board course?
Teacher Learning Board courses include resources, opportunities for collaboration, interactivities, samples, strategies, tactics, and more that have been put-to-the-test by fellow education professionals. You will receive a printable certificate upon successful completion of the course requirements.

Can I receive CEUs (Continuing Education Credits) or clock hours?
Teachers and other education professionals in 40+ states and countries use Teacher Learning Board classes to meet local and state licensing, relicensing and professional development requirements. All course descriptions (see Home page) list CEUs, clock hours and CPDUs. Please contact us about acceptance in your state. Please review local policies for credit request process and relicensure policy. Continuing education credit/CEU/CPDU/clock hour valuation is the final decision of your school district, continuing education committee or other relevant authority. Professional Learning Board does not guarantee acceptance by your school, district or licensing authority.

Can I cancel enrollment in a course?
Yes, cancellation and refunds are available for Self-study courses if a certificate of completion has not been issued and within one week of enrollment. Cancellation and refunds are available for instructor led courses (Facilitated and Graduate courses) if the course is cancelled during the first week after course start or within one week of enrollment for self-paced instructor led courses.

Can I receive Lane Change credit?
Many teachers are able to receive credit toward lane changes through successful completion of graduate-level courses.
