Check Out the New Blog Unexpected SituationsExpect the unexpected. What exactly does that mean? An oxymoron perhaps. For how can one anticipate something that comes as a surprise? I think better is to remind ourselves that as much as we may try to control things, other people, our environment or situations – there is much that is out of our reach in doing so.

It is during troubling times that there is an ever increasingly importance on remembering that thankfully we’re designed to pull together, come back and when best, move on. These are no easy tasks.

We come across the element of surprise and these situations in the classroom too. When technology goes wrong or a planned activity has to be cancelled. And even when there are major or minor disasters. How to we respond? Do we get anxious? Or do we see it as a chance to be creative and innovative?

What are some unexpected situations that you were able to respond to creatively and effectively in your teaching career?
