Cultural Competency Training
Minnesota Statutes Section 122A.09

"Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 122A.06: Subd. 9. Cultural competency training. "Cultural competency training" means a training program that promotes self-reflection and discussion on all of the following topics: racial, cultural, and socioeconomic groups; American Indian students; implicit bias; systemic racism; gender identity, including transgender students; sexual orientation; language diversity; and individuals with disabilities. Training programs must be designed to increase teachers' understanding of these topics and teachers' ability to implement this knowledge with students, families, and the school community.

The following course meets the Cultural Competency requirement:
  • Cultural Competency and Responsive Teaching

Teachers use Professional Learning Board online professional development and continuing education courses to renew a Minnesota (MN) teaching license.
