Is this Bullying?

Thanks for your responses. We realize that a metaphor of the dog chasing its tail as relating to the problem of bullying cannot be understood without actually going through the course itself, so we have removed it from our blog. We appreciate your helping us prevent further misunderstanding.

We happened to come across the instructor, Izzy Kalman, thanks to a friend of ours who attended Kalman’s seminar on bullying when he presented. She told us we had to get in touch with this guy, who presents a completely different approach to addressing the problem of bullying. And she turned out to be absolutely correct! I have seen the positive effects of Mr. Kalman’s approach in my life, but what we were especially thrilled to discover is that this solution is taught by all major religions, schools of psychology and secular philosophical systems.

I can’t tell you how proud we at the Professional Learning Board are of the bullying course we offer. The responses of classroom teachers who have taken it have been overwhelmingly positive. Many teachers have discovered that it helped not only with their students in school but with their own children at home. Teachers tell us that it has even helped them get along better with their spouses and other important people in their lives.

This course teaches how we, as school staff, unwittingly can actually contribute to the problem. The typical things we do to make kids stop bullying each other–in fact, the very things that we are being mandated by law to do to make bullying stop–can actually make the bullying intensify. That is why bullying has become an epidemic during the very period society has been fighting it the hardest. This course teaches a couple of responses that can quickly and effectively reduce bullying among kids.
