Adaptability

When your car breaks down on the way to an important engagement, how do you respond? Do you stay cool and calm and find a way to solve the problem, or do you get flustered and stressed? The way we respond says a lot about our adaptability. In today’s world, it is important that we help students learn to be adaptable.
Very often our culture encourages students to be comfortable all the time, and they don’t get a chance to face new or difficult situations. An activity like camping, or a challenging project that’s related to a real-life task, are some ideas for ways to help students gain confidence in unpredictability and the area of adaptability. A class trip to a new place with a different culture can help students learn to adapt and interact in new ways. And in order to enhance the experience we will want to need to discuss with them before hand and afterward about the challenges, how they feel and ways in which they can or did handle a situation.
Adaptability is an important life skill that often dictates how we succeed in life, and helping students get a good start is important.
What do you do to help students learn to be adaptable?
