Gifted learners have competencies and abilities that go two or more years beyond their grade and/or age level.
This course examines some of the challenges facing gifted learners and offers easily implemented accommodations and success strategies. By understanding the unique learning needs of children who are considered “gifted,” participants will indirectly meet the individual needs of all learners.
Through this course educators and parents can make greater sense of gifted and talented education by learning about identification, instruction and assessment of these students while exploring related topics, issues and resources geared towards our gifted population.

The facilitator is outstanding online educator - always encouraging, quickly responsive and inspiring! She really helped me view educating gifted students through ""new lenses"". I highly recommend this course.
I enjoyed this course and learned many new and practical strategies to bring into my classroom for September. The pocket guide is especially useful and practical! Thanks for all the information and the positive feedback. This is a great way to learn!
The "unlimited retake" arrangement enables the evaluation process to become an extension of the learning process. I had to take the quiz a couple times in order to score 100%. However, I was more willing to take the quiz and risk incorrect answers knowing I could review & revisit my selections. I think this was a great format and I'll use it with my students as well. The advantage of using online scorekeeping is that the students can keep track of their progress and submit their achieved 100% scores. How liberating for both students and teachers alike! Time spent on grading tests can be devoted to curriculum differentiation development! Thanks for a great course - I really appreciate all of the resources and knowledge I can use right away preparing for my new students this fall!
The course strengthened by belief in the fact that teachers must pay more attention to gifted learners
This course has really helped me identify the difference between a gifted learner and a high achiever. I previously thought they were the same but I realize now there is a difference between them.
I liked that I could take the quiz more than once and go back into the information and reread some of the details in the readings. I really enjoyed this course! Learned sooo much!! Thanks! Using the feedback and ideas of some of my classmates, I have some really great ideas that I am excited to try in my classroom this year! I have gained so many understandings in this course, however, what I feel I am taking away with me the most is that giftedness is anything but black and white, and these learners need to be focused on just as much as any other diverse learner. Thanks for the class- loved it!
