Course Description:

We all know the brain plays a major role in learning, but few are aware of how. In a class where each child differs in ability to learn, it is essential that educators know how the brain is related to the process of learning, in order to help facilitate student performance. Such knowledge will also give the educator an advantage when faced with the challenge of teaching a child with special needs.

This two part integrated course equips educators with extensive knowledge about the process of learning. SECTION A, Cognitive Skills: Understanding Learning Challenges focuses on the skills involved in learning and introduces you to various techniques and strategies of identifying a child with learning difficulties and overcoming challenges. It also provides tips on how to make learning fun, challenging and different. SECTION B, Accommodating All Learners helps educators understand more about various learning styles, and how these impact the way a student learns. Gain knowledge about specific teaching approaches that can be used to reach and teach each learning style.

Self-paced Professional Development Credit classes incorporate online content, quizzes, interactivities and a Course Action Plan you can put to use in your work environment. Learning takes place asynchronously, at your convenience, and may be completed over a period of 4 weeks. Note, teachers looking for graduate credits, please check with your issuing authority about whether it will accept these online teacher courses.
