How do I Design my own Borders for Bulletin Boards?

Borders for bulletin boards can be traditional or something out of the ordinary and different. They are readily available and can be bought from a store or be handmade. In fact, often the best borders are handmade.
The border doesn’t always have to be a “strip” border, it can also be images linked together or related to the concept that is illustrated in the board. For example, if a bulletin board is for mathematics, the border could be made up of numerals or mathematical symbols.
The border is a component of the bulletin board where you can easily get students involved. Pre-cut the borders to size and get the students involved in drawing, coloring or gluing shapes or other objects on them. The first step in constructing a bulletin board is to add the background. In this board (picture attached), the teacher used white paper for the background. She had really wanted to use light blue as her background but did not as that would have blended into her walls.
Next, the border is added. In this bulletin board, the border is a contrasting red color on three sides. This contrasting color frames the viewer’s dimension of the space along with fringed grass that creates a 3 dimensional element and is used as a border at across the bottom.
