Keep Going..

I recently read about an Olympic runner who kept going inspite of a torn hamstring at a 400m race, and completed it. I am not an athlete, but do go through plenty of situations where things seem to go wrong. The easiest and most comfortable thing for me to do is throw in the towel. Other times I manage to recognize the situation as something that has already happened (I can’t impact that!) and focus on redirecting my energies and drive in an alternate direction.
I have found that during the times I didn’t give up, and kept going, I was able to learn something and become a stronger person. It may be that you have planned a field trip and it starts raining. Should you cancel it, or just go ahead with umbrellas and raincoats? Of course, every situation is different and the response would be different depending on which grade you are taking out. Of course, I also acknowledge that there are times when it’s best to give up. What I am suggesting today is that very often, we tend to take the simplest option. Cancel the program, reschedule or change the direction. Maybe sometimes, we just need to “rough” it out and find out what happens if we overcome the obstacle.
What keeps you going when situations are really tough?
