As a teacher, I’m sure you’ve had days when you wish you didn’t have to use your “red pen” again to mark errors on a child’s neatly written work. Sometimes it can feel like we are just looking for errors in a student’s work. It’s so important to remember to look beyond mistakes and appreciate the dedication and commitment in students’ work. But at the same time, it really is important for us to point out errors.
Leadership is all about finding the right balance to help those we lead to grow. As a teacher we lead our students and they, in turn, develop their skills (including their own leadership styles) from our modeling. Every one of our actions are observed and repeated.
