Enhance reading and writing literacy with evidence-based strategies and Interventions.
In its most basic form, literacy is the ability to read and write. To be successful in academics, professional and social life, one must be proficient at both reading and writing. Businesses and professional demands require literacy skills.
This course helps teachers meet the standards and requirements of the North Carolina State Board of Education related to Literacy. Teachers will be taught ideas and techniques to present evidence-based assessment, diagnosis and intervention strategies for students who are not demonstrating reading proficiency.
This course encourages teachers to make use of literacy-related activities including oral language, phonemic and phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension. Literacy understanding helps teachers to incorporate reading and writing in their classrooms so students retain information presented and use it to thrive.
