Parents In The Classroom
Posted by Network Support · Leave a Comment
I recently read about a school in Rhode Island that holds classes for parents. What is the subject you ask? Common Core mathematics–a class held for parents to learn how they can help their elementary-age child with math homework.
The classes have brought about a mixture of both positive and negative feedback. While some parents were happy they could participate in the class and use that knowledge to help their child, other parents were frustrated that the methods of solving these math problems were confusing enough that the parents needed a class on them in order to help their child with their homework.
Have you had experience with courses for parents to help students? What do you think of parents in class this way?
