Perseverance

The Olympics is full of sportsmen and women who persevere and work extremely hard. They are people who keep trying no matter how tough it gets. Even if they face failure, sickness, injury and criticism, they keep going.
What a wonderful inspiration this is for us and our students. It reminds me to never give up on learning, no matter how difficult it gets. It reminds me to never be satisfied with my performance as a teacher, and to keep trying to become better and better.
And for students, this is a great opportunity for them to be inspired. So many of these athletes have stories of struggles and how they overcame them. It’s an opportunity for us to remind our students that it takes hard work to get the gold.
As we enjoy this Olympics season, let us be inspired by these great role models. Let us examine ourselves and identify areas which prevent us from doing our best. Let us persevere to be better, and more effective educators.
What are some ways that you can bring this Olympic spirit of perseverance into your classroom?
