Suicide is preventable.
Suicide is a sensitive issue facing schools and communities today. Suicide is a serious problem impacting children and adolescents today. Talking about it is not easy. We live in a world in which social and academic expectations are high, and suicide is sometimes seen as a last resort for those who are deeply feeling pressure and finding it difficult to cope.
Most schools and teachers are not empowered with tools and strategies to respond when a student attempts to commit suicide, or even expresses a desire to commit suicide. This course includes suicide prevention best practices for teachers and schools in line with nationally recognized evidence-based programs and practices and recommended by organizations that have successfully decreased the rates of suicide in schools and communities. Teachers gain awareness on this challenging issue, and are provided tools and ideas for implementation.
