Getting Started on a Teacher Blog
Posted by PLB · Leave a Comment
Blogging is an excellent way to reflect on your professional development and teaching. You can use a blog as an e-portfolio to collect evidence of your learning and reflections. Starting a teacher blog is a great way to do this because other teachers and experts can share tips and resources with you through comments.
A popular blogging platform is edublogs. This is a completely free blogging service just for educators. The same group also has a free blogging platform for student blogs at learnerblogs. Edublogs and learnerblogs enable a great deal of individualization while being part of a larger education community.
While it is a lot of fun to get a blog set up, it may seem a bit overwhelming as well. You should treat your teacher blog as a continual work-in-progress. Outside of ensuring that student privacy is protected, there really are no hard and fast rules. Feel free to take advantage of the many available resources, including other blogs, to help you along the way.
