How did a teacher spark your imagination?

Check Out the New Blog We’ve all had a teacher who inspired us, who sparked our imagination. Professional Learning Board is dedicated to providing tools and techniques for teachers to better inspire children creating lifelong learners and encouraging them to become the people they are to be.

When the opportunity to teach at my alma mater presented itself, I jumped at the chance. After all, I remember sitting back in high school and thinking “I could do this better than they’re doing.” Little did I realize at the time that teaching is not an easy task: 30 students X 6 periods a day X 6 week terms = 1000+ individual kids in one school year!

THANK YOU to these key teacher influencers from my school days:

  • Imagined myself as a BUSINESS OWNER.
Mrs. Marion Hellend, Civil Rights Movement Veteran and my 5th grade teacher
  • Imagined myself as a TEACHER.
Dr. James R. Stone III from the University of Minnesota who taught me to question everything.
  • Imagined myself as a LEARNER.
Mr. Doug Jensen, Curriculum Coordinator for Math, Science and Physical Education and my 8th grade teacher

We can return the inspiration received from our teachers by encouraging today’s teachers to continue their work inspiring the thousands of children in their lives. Share your tale here.

Who is the teacher that inspired your imagination and how did they do so?
