Immersive Learning and Professional Development

Check Out the New Blog Immersive learning is one of the teaching strategies that some teachers like to use with their students. They put their students in a situation where they must push themselves and stretch into new territories.

I had such an experience last week. My computer broke down, and I was forced to explore the potential of my smartphone. It was all I had, and I had to make the most of it.

Some teachers I have met have said the same thing about taking an online professional development course. They might have been forced to do it because of their school policies, shortage of time, or because it was the only way for them to get the clock hours they needed with their busy schedules. And as they did the course, they learned so much more about studying online, learning on the internet and using technology in new ways.

Do /did you have any inhibitions about doing an online professional development course? Please share your thoughts.

I took an online class on Cognitive Learning, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I am looking forward to taking more class through PLB.

Inhibitions…no way. I am currently in a double masters degree program with Concordia University at Portland, OR. The support staff and professors are the best I have ever met. From the beginning they have made me feel like family. My classes advance every five weeks, so it is intense. But I have learned so much, I wondered why I didn’t do this sooner. So, jump in with both feet and explore a lifetime of learning.
