Spring Cleaning in the Classroom

As we work on spring cleaning our homes, it might be a great time to think about spring-cleaning in our classrooms as well. While I definitely work on getting the classroom set up for the new school year each year, I sometimes find that there are things that I accept as part of the classroom, and have difficulty recognizing that they need to be discarded.
Maybe it’s a favorite game that needs to be replaced, maybe blunt scizzors that it’s time to toss. I’m sure if you look around, you’ll find a few things that you’ve carried with you over the years, and maybe hung onto just a little too long. Perhaps it’s a favorite classroom project that was done a few years ago. Maybe time has come to take a picture of that precious project, and get rid of the physical artifact.
Spring cleaning time can be a great opportunity to give to the community. Consider packing up toys or stationary that could still be reused and bring it to a local organization.
Take time this week to spring clean your classroom, fix those things that have been in the back of your mind, and clean out some cobwebs.
What are your suggestions for incorporating fun into spring cleaning of the classroom?
