A student’s achievements are like seeds that a teacher sows. But just like a plant, it’s not enough to sow. Teachers need to weed, water and nourish each seedling so that it will grow properly. The fruits that flourish are determined by the seeds planted and the tender care administered.

What growth would you like to see in your students this coming year? If it is high academic scores that a teacher seeks, they may need to plant learning strategies and basic foundational skills. When a teacher looks to build social awareness and social skills, watering frequently with positive modeling may be in order. To develop organization and leadership skills in students, a teacher might fertilize the learning environment with strong classroom management and work skills.
